Energy of Heart
Where did the phrase "energy of heart" come from?
It comes from a verse of scripture, one I've read many times over the years. However, a few years ago it particularly struck me. The verse has been framed in our home for years, but that day I happened to be reading it and this phrase jumped out.
It was like so much of what I had been reading, studying, and learning in my self-improvement endeavors were summed up in those three words.
I've thought about those words many times since then. As I study and learn to implement new skills, belief sets, habits, thought patterns, etc. the flow of energy, be it positive or negative, originates from the heart.
This week I decided I need to start sharing what I've been learning in an effort to help others. There is so much negativity in the world. Politicians and special interest groups are spearheading and supporting efforts that further divide, knowing that stirring up hate and anger blinds people and makes them easier to control. They want people to apply labels to themselves, to associate themselves with a group or movement, and then to label others. Labels divide people, they don't unite.
Whether the label is racial, ethnic, belief, value, moral (or lack of it) the use of labels, where one's identity becomes associated with the label, severely limits our abilities and even freedoms. There are few labels that are liberating. In most cases, identifying yourself as x, y, or z label restricts your beliefs, your thinking. Often x, y, and z groups dictate what you can or can't believe, agree to, or support. They dictate what you must be against if you are x, y, or z. And if you don't toe the line and fully, unequivocally agree then you aren't x, y, or z and you get ostracized, cast out, and attacked. Frequently the attacks are hateful, vengeful, and full of vitriol.
One of the few liberating labels that applies to all people is "child of God." Yes, there are plenty of people who despise and hate those who are religious, and Christians are certainly getting attacked for their beliefs.
But liberating doesn't always pertain to being able to do what you want to do. While being able to do what we want is certainly liberty, most people don't do what they want. Most people are captive by their limiting beliefs, habits, and thoughts.
When we begin to discover the truth, that we are children of God and our potential is limitless, then our thoughts, beliefs, and habits begin to change. We discover that we are free. Even when those in government profess to enact regulations, restrictions, infringements, laws etc. in the name of safety and/or security or "for the good of all" or to "save just one life" or "to protect the children" they cannot regulate what you choose to think, believe, your attitude, your heart.
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure."
