Brighter tomorrow begins today

One of the hardest things for most people is to let go. Letting go of the past, and letting it be past is hard, especially when memories remind us of sorrows, failures, or other painful experiences. Our brains are wired for survival, and, since they don't know the future we tend to rely on the past to determine how to act...or in most cases how to re-act. Let's rely on the advice given, but often ignored, to potential investors: Past performance does not indicate, guarantee, or predict future performance. This applies to us. No matter what happened in the past, it is past. Water under the bridge. Gone. History. For many people the past can be hard to let go, and lives are lived while looking at the past. Yes, who you are today is the combined factors of your yesterdays. Maybe this can be depressing. But, look at it another way: How you choose to think, act, and be today will determine who you become in your future tomorrows. That is the power each of us has. Where we direct th...

Faith

There will be a number of posts about faith. Faith is a key principle to harnessing the energy of our hearts. A couple of days ago, I was reading in the Gospel According to St Matthew, where the Lord states in chapter 21, 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.  Many Gospel scholars believe the idea of moving mountains is metaphorical and not literal. In my study of the scriptures there are multiple meanings and symbolisms. I believe that unless there is something that implies the statement is strictly metaphorical/symbolic in nature, such as when something is compared to or likened to something else, then the scripture has a literal meaning as well. So, in this case, an actual moun...

Energy of Heart

Where did the phrase "energy of heart" come from? It comes from a verse of scripture, one I've read many times over the years. However, a few years ago it particularly struck me. The verse has been framed in our home for years, but that day I happened to be reading it and this phrase jumped out. It was like so much of what I had been reading, studying, and learning in my self-improvement endeavors were summed up in those three words. I've thought about those words many times since then. As I study and learn to implement new skills, belief sets, habits, thought patterns, etc. the flow of energy, be it positive or negative, originates from the heart. This week I decided I need to start sharing what I've been learning in an effort to help others. There is so much negativity in the world. Politicians and special interest groups are spearheading and supporting efforts that further divide, knowing that stirring up hate and anger blinds people and makes them easier to c...
