Scarcity or Abundance?

I'm guessing everyone would rather have abundance instead of scarcity.

So why is it most people experience scarcity?

It's because that is the belief most people have. It is their mindset, their paradigm.

Here's something to think about that can help you identify whether you are more abundance or scarcity focused:

Why do you like to buy something on sale?

Do you buy things on sale because you don't have enough money to pay full price? Are you trying to save money, to keep more of it?

If you have a fear of losing money if you don't buy things on sale then you are likely more scarcity-minded.

I'm not saying pay full price. Consider this:

What if you like buying things on sale because it means more money you have to help other people, to donate to a charity, or to make your family's life better through additional opportunities you can buy?

Again, I'm not advocating paying full price for everything. But I really enjoy the bargain, a great deal on something I really want. It used to be because I didn't want to spend the money on full price, or I worried about not having enough money for other things.

Over the last couple years I've realized a change in how I view saving money. I love saving money because it means more money for other things I love to use money for. It means I can provide more for my family. I can donate more.

Are your motivations fear-related? If they are you're likely scarcity minded.

Here's another: How do you view winning vs losing? How do you feel when you lose, whether you lose the deal, lose a game, or lose anything else?

If you fear losing, if you're wanting to win "at any cost" then you are very likely afraid of not having what you don't have. And if you don't get it, you're afraid you're not enough. You probably live life trying to be and feel fulfilled, to feel like your worth something. You pin your own value on whether or not you win.

And if you believe someone has to win and everyone else loses (just because they didn't win) then you are definitely scarcity-minded because only 1 person can win, no matter how good everyone else is.

Okay, so yes, there are events or activities where there is a winner and losers. I'm thinking of athletics and competitions. Are these bad? No, not necessarily. What's bad is the attitude and perception of winning vs losing.

You can lose a game or competition and still feel like a winner.

Unfortunately there are also plenty of winners who act like losers because of how they treat others. They have to put others down to feel like they are better...it's scarcity because they don't believe others can also have worth.

Scarcity is limitation. It limits us, our potential and our possibilities.

Abundance is the opposite. Love is abundance. Faith is abundance. There is no limit to abundance. It is limitless.

Those who desire control, power, authority over others--often by manipulation others through fear, anger, hate--operate through scarcity mindset.

Scarcity-minded are controlled by their fears.

Abundance-minded is freedom.

Abundance is synergy, where the value of the combined parts is greater than the simple sum of the individual pieces. 1+1 should be 2, but a synergistic result is 1+1=3 or 4 or even more.

Abundance is win-win.

How about comparing abundance and scarcity to a religious viewpoint?

God is abundance. God gives us one or more gifts to use. As we use them, particularly to benefit others, we are given more, and more, and more. Think of an upside-down pyramid. You start at the point and as you progress your potential increases and expands. God increases our gifts, abilities, and power to act and serve. And the awesome part is this is available to anyone and everyone. As your progress up the pyramid, it's not limited to one person at the top. God's promises, his rewards are available to all.

At the other end, the adversary is absolute scarcity. He promises the world but it's easy to get ensnared in his traps, and at the end you don't get what was promised. Anyone and everyone can start with the vain promises. The problems is the only way to progress in power is to climb over and use others. The more people below you, the more power and control you have and receive. It's the ultimate pyramid scheme. And all pyramid schemes are influenced by scarcity because the higher you go, the fewer there are who can be there. The promise is the world, but the reality is only one is on top. Those sucked into the pyramid scheme are motivated by scarcity, by getting ahead of others.
