Flexibility

Don't be so caught up in how you think something should be done that you ignore or overlook other possibilities that might be better, which may even get you to your end result faster.

To "trust in God" isn't blind trust. It isn't inaction. It's taking action, but being flexible (including accepting) to change.

People who truly trust in God to lead them in their lives aren't sitting idly waiting for some divine manifestation to guide them. They take action. They live. But they are asking, open, and willing to take and accept changes to their plans and what they are doing.

A boat or aircraft captain/pilot will make a plan for their course of travel. But if they run into unexpected difficulties the prudent captain or pilot won't be sticking unchangingly to their plan. They're going to adapt. They're going to be flexible.

Here's the fact in commercial travel (even in personal travel), even if there isn't any unplanned weather or difficulties, most of the time the boat or plane is off-course. But most of the time, whether it's the pilot or autopilot, constant course corrections are being made. The pilot should be regularly referencing known points of reference to gauge their course and location on that course.

Prior to travel, contingencies are often checked. Resources and travel related information are referenced.

And during travel, communication is essential. Checking and rechecking information for currency and accuracy is vital. Making changes as needed keeps bad things from becoming worse.

Just as a coach or mentor can facilitate improved and better performance, commercial (and proficient) pilots get insights from sources outside of their own knowledge. They consult weather sources. They talk with air traffic control. The communicate with others.

And even when not actually flying, the really good pilot is continuing to learn and improve their knowledge and skills. They continue to learn to fly better, receiving feedback and instruction from coaches or mentors

To soar through life and reach our dream destination, we need to know where it is we want to go (our desired result, the destination) and we need to be flexible in how to get there. Maybe we have some ideas of how we might get there.

But, we must be open to change. We must realize we don't know everything and we don't have all the information or options to start with.

And we must accept and expect that we will get new information and options as we begin and continue on our journey. It is extremely rare that anyone has all the information before they start, and it's equally rare that people reach their dream destination in the precise way they expected.

We don't have to know exactly "how" we will get there. We need to know where it is we desire to go and accept that we'll get there.

We need to take the first step, the decisive action to start. It's after we start that we begin to gain momentum.

God loves it when we take action. He wants us to act in faith, trusting that what is needed will be provided.

Be flexible.

"Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape."
